ABSTRACT: This study Examined the Impact of Early Childhood Education on Social Media Literacy. The objectives of this study were to: (1) evaluate the effectiveness of early childhood education (ECE) in promoting social media literacy, (2) assess the impact of digital education on children's understanding of online safety, and (3) determine the long-term benefits of early social media education on digital citizenship. A survey design was employed to gather comprehensive data from educators, parents, and children about their experiences with social media literacy education in ECE settings. A sample size of 160 participants, including preschool teachers, parents, and children aged 4-6, was selected using purposive sampling. The case study was conducted in early childhood education centers in Lagos State, Nigeria, given its high internet penetration and focus on digital education. Findings revealed that ECE programs significantly improved children's understanding of online safety and promoted social media literacy, leading to more responsible digital citizenship in the long term. It was recommended that early childhood education centers integrate social media literacy education into their curricula and provide training for educators to effectively teach these concepts.
